Spring is here and it’s that time again when GALLOWS HUMOR descends upon Felicita Park and Gypsifies the place right respectable. We’re bringing our Guild and all the things and a couple of couches and calling the place home for the next two weekends.  Consider yourselves sufficiently advised, Escondido-ans, Faerie-Types, Pirate Friends and Your Majesticals™:

The much anticipated HIGH DESERT PIRATE FAIRE is upon us! Just one week away so clear your calendar of anything you might have thought you were doing and get ready to descend upon the very unlikely (and probably part of a secret Pirate plot to construct some manner of “inland seaport”) locale of Victorville, California.

Some of our most favorite people in all the land are going to be there to join in the shenanigans:

You heard correctly, GALLOWS HUMOR will be gracing the Ten Bells Tavern stage at this year’s Riverside Dickens’s Festival!

A smashing good time is sure to be had by all. Amongst other delightful treats, the Trial of Jack the Ripper of  shall be presented and also that of Mischa’s favorite Victorian-era superstar, Lizzie Borden!

Now there’s a girl with one heck of a swing! *swoon!*

So dig out those dapper Victorian duds and join us! We’ll be doing our darndist to keep it prim, proper and stylish…and so should you!

Seems that the lovely folks at the Que Sera in Long Beach have invited us back, and this time with a bit more notice so our sophisticated society friends can clear their calendars for the evening.

Come on out and get your Gallows Humor fix on Thursday, January 22!

Our stylish friends, Ironwise, are set to join us and the incomparable bard, Davey Tankard will be there as well to entertain you! It’s a decadent mid-week soirée with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Mmmm! In case you were wondering what sort of thing you might want to wear to an elegant shindig such as this, Marian V. Gogu has some advice for you:

    “Casual is fine, but it’s also boring as fuck. We will be dressing in our finest, dapper clothing, and encourage you to do so as well. Top hats, tail coats, corsets, all of that classy shit. Come and join us for a great night of music, drinking, and hopefully a lot of sexy photos.”

So it turns out that visiting relatives who have been shackled with the chains of indentured servitude by the Knott family has become a Thanksgiving weekend pilgrimage of sorts for the Malikovs.

Well, I could try but there would be a lot of FUCKING AWESOME! being repeated over and over and that’s rather dull and not at all awesome and it barely describes how awesome it was anyways. I cannot wait to see all the photos that will invariably start dinging my Facebook tag bell in the next few days! Ring-a-ding-ding!

But I digress.

Though we are still basking in the sweet, sweet, atomic afterglow of your undead Galloween love, and mah lawd it was saucy and delectable, there is brand new mischief begging to be made:

Traveling, traveling, everywhere…

I stumbled onto the blog’s stats page the other day and discovered a curious thing. Let’s not say it was by *accident* because that sounds like I might not know what I am doing. Let’s just say that it was a fortuitous misadventure and leave it at that, shall we?

YES INDEED WE SHALL!

That’s really neither here nor there anyways. The most important thing that begs to be said is:

WHO AMS ALL OF YOU PEOPLE FROM BRAZIL??!?

I for one have never been to Brazil but I’m not adverse to the idea. In fact, it seems like quite a time could be had if the stars aligned themselves in such a way that this might come to pass. I wonder…if I should ever find myself in Brazil, what are the things and foods and yummy adult beverages which are not to be missed?

Hmmm.

Any assistance our friends from Brazil might be willing to offer would be much appreciated. 😉

Escondido Renaissance Faire was a complete blast. Despite the heat, we managed to have a pile of fun and as always it was awesome to see all of our old friends and have the chance to make a bunch of new ones.

YOU GUYS ROCK!

Let us recap the highlights:

First weekend:

  • WHOA the heat. *swelter* My bloomers are moist just thinking about it.
  • The new stage in the tavern put us smack dab in the middle of all the glorious drinking time goings on which was amazing. Always a bonus to go on back to back with Cutthroat Reef also!
  • DID I MENTION THE HEAT?! Mad props to everyone who came and survived and especially those who staggered by and offered sweaty, salty hugs, they were much appreciated. <3

Second Weekend:

  • Our negotiations with the spirits were successful and everyone enjoyed MUCH cooler weather.
  • Our already lovely encampment gained a few improvements (also known as “chairs!” and “cushions!” and “tables!”) and a whole lot of you stopped by to visit. Let us continue with this trend, we enjoyed seeing you all and getting to relax and hang out!
  • Ty Beanie Babies Furry-folk. ENOUGH SAID.
